Louisville basketball promoted Brian Kloman to Executive Director of Player Personnel and Strategic Initiatives this morning, and the Cardinals are already receiving extreme high praise for their decision.
After Kloman spent just one season with Louisville, he was immediately promoted from Assistant Coach to his new position under Pat Kelsey. The Cardinals head coach has a rare relationship as Kloman has followed Kelsey in all of his stops since Wintrop 12 years ago.
Now, the Cardinals give Kloman his flowers and promote him to the Executive Director of Player Personnel and Strategic Initiatives role. Kelsey praises Kloman and all he has done, and college basketball expert Jeff Goodman also joins in.

Jeff Goodman praises Louisville for Brian Kloman's promotion
Kelsey has referred to Kloman as his "right-hand man" and gave his long-term partner extreme high praise. Now, Goodman chimes in and says the Cardinals aced this promotion and brings Louisville closer to big-time programs as he will now essentially be their general manager.
"I am not sure there is anyone in college basketball who is more forward-thinking than Kloman," Goodman stated in his social media post. "This is the perfect spot for him - can manage Louisville’s roster and also come up with new, innovative idea for the program. Basically the de facto GM - but it encompasses more than most general manager duties."

The Cardinals receiving high praise from Goodman proves that Kelsey and Josh Heird aced this promotion. Kelsey has too much on his plate to deal with GM roles, and while Kloman's title isn't general manager, he will do pretty much the exact same roles as if his title were GM.
Kloman will now oversee the roster, recruiting, and revenue-sharing. This is all perfect for the future of Louisville, as he has a strong relationship with Kelsey. He knows what works and doesn't work with his style of play, and who to recruit and who not to recruit.
Louisville fans should be thrilled about this announcement, and Goodman's praise for the promotion and his claim that he is perfect for this job prove that.
