Mikel Brown Jr. committed to the Louisville Cardinals back in January 2025. The 5-star point guard at the time was around 6-foot-3, 170 pounds, and was considered a bit undersized for the sport, but made up for it with his ability to control the pace of the game and his ability to create his own shots.
Well, while this was considered a weakness of his, he quickly turned it into a strength after he grew a couple of inches this summer and put on a significant amount of muscle. The 5-star freshman now is 6-foot-5, and according to his profile on the official website, he is 180 pounds, but he might be even more after fans look at his recent photos.
Louisville basketball's elite point guard was the top-ranked point guard in the 2025 class. He has an incredible feel for the game as he can shoot from anywhere on the court, while twitching through the lane and exploding for a massive dunk. Brown gaining at least 10 pounds this offseason is massive for the freshman, as it should make him nearly unstoppable in the ACC.

Five-star freshman added at least 10 pounds
Brown was ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation and the best point guard in the 2025 recruiting class. He recently dominated the FIBA U19 World Cups, where he led Team USA in points, assists, and efficiency.
The Cardinals fans got a brief preview of what is to come, but now that he has added muscle, it is clear he is poised for a massive season. He enters his true freshman season as a projected top-five pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

When Louisville fans saw this photo of him in the weight room, they all could clearly tell the freshman has put on some muscle. Brown has the opportunity to be one of the best players in college basketball next season, and attacking the weight room only raises his potential for the upcoming season.
With the hype around him already that high, adding muscle while being able to keep his speed, twitch, and lethal jump shot has Brown ready for a breakout 2025-26 season.
