Louisville basketball is set to have its first exhibition game this week, as the Cardinals are currently in the Bahamas. Louisville fans won’t be able to watch or tune in, as the game isn’t broadcast, but Louisville Cardinals fans are excited, as we are one step closer to the regular season.

The Cardinals added a lot of talent this offseason, including multiple 5-stars and 4-stars from the Transfer Portal and the 2026 recruiting class. One of the 5-stars the Cardinals added is the top-ranked center in the 2026 recruiting class, Obinna Ekezie Jr.

The 5-star center was recently interviewed, and the Cardinals fans are going to absolutely love what he had to say.

Obinna Ekezie Jr. has one bold promise for Louisville basketball fans

For the second straight season, the Cardinals have Final Four dreams and expectations. Kelsey landed the No. 1 Transfer Portal class in the nation, and for that reason, Louisville has one of the best odds to win the 2027 National Title.

The Cardinals fans are starving for a National Championship Title, as the last time they won the National Title was in 2013, and the Cards fans can’t even claim it anymore. However, Ekezie just sent a confident message to Cardinals fans that they wanted to hear.

“Y'all gonna see us win a National Championship this year,” stated Ekezie. “We are going to get that done.”

As of right now, Louisville has the ninth-highest odds to win the National Championship in 2027, and the second-highest 2027 National Title odds from the ACC, only behind Duke. Louisville has a real chance at going the distance this upcoming season, and Ekezie is expected to be a big reason.

The 7-foot-2, 240-pound freshman is a 5-star center who ranked as high as No. 14 overall in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 1 center. Now, he joins Flory Bidunga, Jackson Shelstad, Adrian Wooley, Karter Knox and more.

This Cardinals team has depth, 3-point shooting, height, and physicality. Louisville fans love this message and Ekezie’s confidence, and hopefully he can speak it into existence and help Louisville snap its National Title drought.
