The 2025 college football season is officially here, and Louisville football fans cannot wait to watch their Cardinals on Saturday against L&N Stadium. While Saturday marks Jeff Brohm's first game of the 2025 season, it also marks a crucial recruiting day.
The Cardinals will host over 80 recruits Saturday afternoon for their Week 1 showdown, but two recruits stand out from the rest. While over eight recruits have already committed to Louisville, two recruits have actually committed to two Big 12 schools, making it appear that Brohm and Vince Marrow are trying to poach two hidden gems from their Big 12 schools.

Louisville football looks to flip two Big 12 commitments this weekend
Brohm and Marrow will try to gain two more commitments this weekend and swipe 3-star Taj Powell from West Virginia and 3-star Jeremiah Gray from Cincinnati.
Gray stands out explicitly here because the Cincinnati Bearcats had a big-time showdown last night at Arrowhead Stadium against the Nebraska Huskers. The 3-star defensive linemen, deciding to take the time to visit L&N Stadium and the Louisville Cardinals the same weekend the program he committed to has a big-time showdown at Chiefs Stadium, speaks volumes and makes it appear he isn't regarded as a top commit to the Bearcats and isn't entirely on board just yet.
Gray committed to Cincinnati back in April, but has since visited Iowa, Wisconsin, and Kentucky. Marrow and the Cardinals look to complete the flip after this weekend and earn the elite defender's commitment. Gray ranks as high as the No. 937 recruit in the nation, the No. 105 defensive linemen, and the No. 18 recruit out of Michigan.
As for Powell, he committed to West Virginia back in April as well and is ranked even higher than Gray. The 6-foot-3 205 205-pound linebacker is ranked as high as No. 908 in the nation, and the No. 73 linebacker in the 2026 cycle. The Ohio native ranks No. 40 from his state, and the Cardinals will look to rip him away from the Mountaineers this weekend.
The Cardinals extended their offer just a month ago and are emerging as a legitimate contender to flip him from West Virginia.
