The Louisville Cardinals are making one of the most exciting schedules for the Cardinals nation in a long time. The Cardinals are set to have one of the best teams in college basketball next season, as Louisville's five newcomers are expected to make an immediate impact for Pat Kelsey's squad.
It was reported earlier this week that Louisville basketball renewed its rivalry with the Memphis Tigers, as the historic rivalry is set to tip off on December 13. The Tigers and Cardinals have played each other 90 times, making them one of the Cardinals' biggest rivals in school history. The Cardinals also announced the date of the controversial game against the Kentucky Wildcats, as the two in-state programs will tip off on November 11.
Well, recently, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reported that the Cardinals are finalizing a deal to renew another historic rivalry with the Cincinnati Bearcats for the next two seasons.
Louisville basketball adds Cincinnati to their stacked 2025-26 schedule
The date has yet to be announced, but the Cardinals and Bearcats will likely play on a neutral site for the next two seasons, including the 2025-26 season. These two programs have a lot of history, as there have been 100 matchups between them, with Louisville having the better head-to-head record at 56-44.
The last matchup between these two old conference rivals was in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational, when Cincinnati defeated the Cards 81-62. The first matchup was way back in 1920, when Cincinnati pulled off a 36-16 win on their home floor.
These two programs played each other in four conferences, where the Cardinals and Bearcats were both seen in the Missouri Valley Conference, Metro Conference, Conference USA, and Big East simultaneously. Louisville's 100 matchups against Cincinnati are the most head-to-head in program history.
