Louisville basketball is coming off a massive victory over the No. 22 Indiana Hoosiers to improve to 8-1 on the season. The Cards are now ranked No. 12 in the nation and have already secured two wins over top-25 teams. Their most recent win, a big-time bounce-back after losing to Arkansas, was against the Hoosiers. However, their first big win came earlier this season against the then No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats, which really set the tone for both teams' seasons.

The Cardinals and Wildcats met at the KFC Yum! Center on Nov. 11 in the season's third game, which marked a turning point for both teams moving forward. Louisville dominated the Wildcats for most of the game, even though the final score was 96-88. Since that game, Louisville has remained one of the best teams in the country, while the Wildcats have had a disastrous start to the season.

With the Cats' 6-4 start to the 2025-26 season, Louisville fans are trolling their in-state rival and bringing back old comments and predictions from Kentucky fans.

Entering the season, Kentucky had one of the highest odds to win the National Title, but with its 6-4 start, it is now projected to be a No. 9 seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The Cats fans had high hopes after their Transfer Portal class and 2025 recruiting class, but now it is the Cardinals fans laughing at the Wildcats fans.

When reading this post, Louisville fans will see many Kentucky fans predicting a 4-2 record or better against these six ranked teams, and many saying 6-0. However, that hasn’t been the case at all. Kentucky is 0-4 against all ranked teams and has lost by an average of 16 points per game, including a 35-point loss to Gonzaga.

The Cardinals and Wildcats have been two entirely different seasons, and that Nov. 11 game was the turning point for both teams. Kentucky fans are clearly upset with head coach Mark Pope, while Pat Kelsey has the full support of Louisville fans.

The Cats' season isn’t getting any easier as they face Indiana this weekend, and then St. John's a week later. We are just 10 games in the season, and plenty of time for Kentucky to turn the page, but for right now, Louisville fans are soaking it in and enjoying every second of Kentucky’s struggles through the first 10 games.
