Louisville basketball's Mikel Brown Jr. was recently selected to be on Team USA's U19 squad and is representing the Stars and Stripes at the FIBA U19 World Cup. Brown has represented Team USA before, earning a gold medal last summer, and is now seeking his second gold medal before his college career even begins.
The future Cardinal is putting the whole nation on notice just how talented he is, and he is proving why he is the best point guard in the 2026 cycle. Team USA played France on Sunday, and not only did the Cardinal's historic 5-star commitment lead Team USA in points and guide them to a massive 108-77 victory over France, but he did it in complete domination.

Louisville basketball’s Mikel Brown Jr. proves he’s the best PG in college basketball
Brown led all scorers in the game with 24 points as well as added four assists, one rebound, and one block in the win over France. The 5-star point guard is leaving experts speechless, with NBA Draft scouts continually raising his draft stock before he has even stepped foot on a college court.
He showcased his ability to shoot off the dribble, off the pass, in contested situations, and from beyond the arc, too. He shot 8-of-11 from the field and 6-9 from downtown. He put up these dominant numbers in just 25 minutes of playing time, but his best quarter was in the first quarter when he caught fire from the 3-point line, scoring all 12 points of his from downtown and going 4-4.

Brown is giving the nation a brief preview of what is to come next season for the Cardinals. He is displaying his elite athleticism, as well as a jump shot that can take over a game in minutes. The 5-star had multiple highlights from Sunday, including a big-time block on one end, which led to a transition 3-pointer from himself on the other. Another highlight included him showcasing his ability to create space and create a shot for himself, as he executed a three-dribble combo to the free throw line and buried a fade-away jumper with a hand in his face.
He was able to score with contact, shoot step-back 3-pointers, take over the game, and play at his pace. Brown has an elite court vision, and it showed all Sunday, as he executed multiple lobs. The Cardinals fans should tune in for Team USA's U19 FIBA World Cup run because their incoming freshman continues to shock the nation with his dominance.
