Louisville basketball is expected to be all-in on the transfer portal this year as the Cardinals are set to spend up to $10 million. Pat Kelsey showed last summer he is not afraid to do whatever it takes to win, as he brought in 12 new players from the portal.

The Cardinals nation heard great news that they are one of five teams who have already reached out to the No. 1 ranked player in the transfer portal. Rob Reinhart of The Herald reported that Pat Kelsey had already reached out to Josh Dix, the star guard out of Iowa. It is reported that the five schools that have reached out to Dix include Louisville, Auburn, Alabama, Providence, and Michigan State.

The Cardinals are set to be in a fierce battle with these elite Big 10 and SEC programs, as Dix has the potential to be a perfect match with incoming 5-star recruit Mikel Brown Jr.

Dix is an absolute sniper from downtown, as the former Iowa guard would be the perfect replacement for Reyne Smith and would gel perfectly next to Mikel Brown Jr. Kelsey showed the Cardinals fans that his offense likes to shoot threes as the Cardinals took over 850 shots from downtown last season.

Well, put Dix out on that style offense with Brown, J'Vonne Hadley, Kasean Pryor, and others, and this team immediately is back in contention for the ACC title. On3 has Dix ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the 2025 transfer portal with a score of 97.74. The former Iowa star is 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds and has proven to be one of the best shooters in the nation during his three years at Iowa.

At Iowa, the lethal shooting guard started every game last season and averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while shooting an impressive 42.2 percent from the 3-point line. The sharpshooter splashed 65 threes last season on just 154 attempts. During his three seasons with Iowa, he was a 41.9 percent shooter from beyond the arc.

Last season, he scored 20 points or more in six games, including his career-high 31-point performance against Nebraska. Dix went 7-10 from downtown and 10-14 from the field against Nebraska and showed off his shooting ability. He also scored 27 points last season against the No. 7 ranked Purdue.

Dix's ability to shoot from downtown at an above-average rate would be a crucial commitment for Pat Kelsey. Louisville basketball needs to find their sharpshooter in the transfer portal, and while this may be a bit of a stretch, it would also be a match made in heaven.
