Louisville basketball has had its fair share of struggles, but the team gelled and sparked an incredible 10-game win streak that brought this program back to life. Cardinals now will most likely make the NCAA Tournament, and according to Joe Lunardi's latest prediction, Cardinals fans would absolutely crave for this prediction to happen.

Louisville basketball sets sights on revenge

Louisville basketball saw a upgrade in their seeding according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi Bracketology, as they are now the No. 6 seed in the South bracket.

Cardinals are predicted to go against the winner of VCU and Arkansas in the Play-in game and then in Round of 32 they would square up with their arch rival, Kentucky Wildcats. The idea of these two rival programs seeing each other in the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament has college basketball fans from all over screaming for joy.

Kentucky and Louisville have played in March six times, and Kentucky holds the advantage 4-2. The most memorable NCAA Tournament clash between these two rivals was back in 2012 when Kentucky secured a 69-61 victory in the Final Four to secure a birth in the national championship.

These two programs saw each other back in December, where Kentucky earned a 93-85 victory, but ever since UofL has only lost one game, and their loss to the Wildcats ignited their recent dominant win streak. Cardinals have won 14 of 15, and are shattering program record books throughout the way.

Since that loss, Louisville has secured 12 double-digit wins, and six 20 point wins. Pat Kelsey has this Louisville basketball team shooting from beyond the arc at a remarkable rate, as Cardinals lead all of ACC teams in total threes, and average 10 threes made a game.

The in-state rivalry between these two programs is one of the biggest rivalries in all of college sports, and a meeting in March only would give sport fans a glaring smile. There is tons of history between these two historic schools as the first meeting was in 1913, where Kentucky won 34-10. The two schools have played each other every season since 1984, and Kentucky leads the series 40-17.

The most recent matchup in March madness was in 2014, where Kentucky won 74-69 in the Sweet Sixteen to move on to the Elite Eight. Cardinals fans would not only be glued to the screen if this game happened, but they can nearly taste the sweet revenge.

Louisville basketball is 2-8 against Kentucky in last 10 matchups, and they haven't beaten Kentucky in the Big Dance since 1983.
