3. Stretch four/ Power Forward
Louisville basketball needs an elite playmaker who can shoot from beyond the arc, post up, drive to the rim, and be reliable on defense. The Cardinals' lineup is perfectly built for a player with this skillset, and they desperately need someone like this.
Louisville needs an elite power forward who provides a height of around 6-foot-8 and can stretch the floor out. The Cardinals are that one piece away in their starting lineup to be contenders next season, and if Louisville can grab a player who can knock fadeaways down, space the floor out for their guards, but can also block some shots on the other end, then this team is complete.
Louisville will wait to hear if 5-star recruit Nate Ament commits to the Cardinals, but Louisville must grab a stretch four in the portal if he doesn't. J'Vonne Hadley is undersized for the power forward position, and James Scott isn't a threat outside the paint.
Tae Davis from Notre Dame is someone from the portal that the Cardinals haven't reached out to and should. The 6-foot-7 forward is transferring out of Notre Dame and averaged 15.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 47.6 percent from the floor last season.
The Cardinals need a playmaker in the forward position, not just someone who is a threat in the paint. Louisville's backcourt is set, but if Kelsey can try and find someone who can stretch the floor out and space the court for his sharpshooters, then this team can compete with anyone in the nation.
