Louisville injury update
As the 2026-27 season approaches, Louisville fans have been keeping an eye on a couple of Cardinals and their health. 5-star freshman Obinna Ekezie Jr. and Karter Knox both had offseason surgeries, and as we near the season, both are getting closer to 100%.
In the Cardinals' win over Kansas, Ekezie and Knox both came off the bench; Ekezie played 19 minutes and looked like the best player on the court, while Knox played 12 minutes. The other day, the Cards coaching staff gave an update on Knox, saying he is closer to 100%, but now he just has to trust it.
“Right now I think his knee is healthy. I think now he is going through the mental side of it and trusting it. I think he is really close to being 100%. But he is healthy. The sky is the limit for him and he has all types of potential.”
Louisville's final exhibition game
This is the Cardinals' second and final exhibition game before their official regular-season debut on Nov. 2 against Chattanooga. Louisville enters the season ranked No. 11 and with lofty expectations. The Cardinals added the No. 1 transfer Flory Bidunga, along with 5-star Obinna Ekezie Jr. On top of those two 5-star centers, Kelsey added experience around them with multiple 4-star transfers, Jackson Shelstad, Karter Knox, Alvaro Folgueiras, and De'Shayne Montgomery.
Louisville will look to continue building chemistry in this final exhibition game and build on their big-time win over Kansas. The Cards' regular season will begin on November 2 inside KFC Yum! Center, and their first true test will be Nov. 15 at Memphis. Wednesday night will be a fun time for Cardinals fans, as they get to give the newcomers their first Louisville welcome and show them what makes the KFC Yum! Center so special.
