The spring transfer portal for basketball and football concludes this week. The Cardinals' two programs have high expectations for next year, as Pat Kelsey and his men's basketball program currently have the No. 4 highest odds to win the 2026 National Championship.

While football isn't quite there yet, the Cardinals are expected to be at the top of the ACC standings. They will seek their third straight season with nine wins or more. Brohm and his staff have earned three transfer visits this spring and secured one commitment from Dacari Collins.

The basketball transfer portal will close today, as the football spring portal will close on Friday. With these two portals ending, this is a massive transfer portal update for football and basketball.

Louisville basketball transfer portal update

The basketball transfer portal deadline is today, meaning any player who plans to enter the transfer portal must declare today. The Cardinals are waiting to hear if Kasean Pryor will enter the portal, making today a massive day for the Louisville basketball program. Another player to keep an eye on is Khani Rooths, as the Cardinal's 4-star commit from the 2024 class is expected to see the floor a little less next year after J'Vonne Hadley announced his return, and the Cardinals are expected to run a three-guard lineup.

Kelsey's No. 1 target will be to bring Pryor back, but after him, the Cardinals must go all-in on the 5-star transfer from Florida State. The Cardinals were reported to be a top candidate for the elite scorer, Jamir Watkins.

The Cardinals are trending for a couple of recent players after Nate Ament announced his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers. Watkins and Chad Baker-Mazara are the Cardinals' top two dream targets in the portal, as the Cardinals still have one scholarship spot remaining. Louisville was expected to spend nearly $10 million this offseason, meaning they should still have one massive signing remaining.

The Cardinals will learn if anyone else plans to hit the portal, making today a crucial day for their 2025-26 season. All eyes will be on Pryor as fans anxiously await his announcement for next year. It is clear moving forward that the three names associated with Louisville basketball are Pryor, Watkins, and Baker-Mazara.

Kasean Pryor - Louisville - 13.0 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.2 SPG, 44.7% FG, 35.2% 3PT

Jamir Watkins - Florida State - 18.4 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.2 SPG, 43.2% FG, 32.0% 3PT

Chad Baker-Mazara - Auburn - 12.3 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.2 SPG, 44.8% FG, 38.1% 3PT

Louisville football transfer portal update

Jeff Brohm and his Cardinals are having a slower transfer portal, but in the last few days, they have picked things up. The Cardinals landed a commitment from the North Carolina State transfer, Dacari Collins. The former Clemson Tiger and Wolfpack wide receiver is expected to be that WR3 for Miller Moss, as he stands tall at 6-foot-4 and can be the Cardinals' elite 50/50 receiver in the red zone.

The Cardinals also received some visits from tight end C.J. Jacobsen and defensive edge rusher Justin Beadles. The Cardinals have brought in one player this spring and have seen six players exit. Louisville fans hope Brohm can address the tight-end and defensive back concerns immediately.

The transfer portal deadline is this Friday, April 25. The Cardinals are hoping to add some key pieces to help boost this Louisville football squad into legitimate ACC contenders next season. The addition of Collins will help the wide receiver room, but fans are hoping to possibly grab a defensive back, a tight end, and one more wide receiver.

The Cardinals need depth in these three positions. The defensive backs and wide receivers are clearly the Cardinals' two glaring weaknesses, meaning Louisville must continue to explore the transfer portal and attempt to secure at least one more player in these two key positions.
