It is no secret that March is one of the best months for college athletics. Spring football has started, the NCAA Tournament is days away, and baseball is in full swing.

Louisville athletics are involved in all those sports, making March a month of thrills, hope, and anticipation. Jeff Brohm and his football squad continue to amp up spring practice, while Pat Kelsey and his Cardinals are starting to prepare for the postseason.

There are many sports to follow, so we plan to give you a brief report on the primary sports news from the last couple of days. So, let's dive right in.

Louisville football spring update

Louisville football hosted its second open practice for fans and media on March 5. The first glaring thing many noticed was that Stanquan Clark and Austin Collins were out participating in this practice but were limited as they practiced without pads.

Brady Allen, a former 4-star recruit, has not looked great so far this spring camp, making it clear that the Cardinals should try to target a quarterback, such as Jaden Rashada, from the transfer portal.

The running backs' coach, Chris Barclay, was available for the media to discuss the importance of having Isaac Brown and Duke Watson back this spring.

"To have some experience back in two really, really talented guys like that, it's impressive," coach Chris Barclay stated. "He's coming out of the shell. He definitely is expressing more confidence and playing with more confidence. Duke is the same, even though this is his first spring. It's been impressive."

The Cardinals got massive recruiting news Friday night, as UofL landed an in-state recruit, Karsten Busch. The 6-foot-2, 221-pound linebacker is ranked No. 3 from Kentucky and No. 35 in his skilled position. Last season, he had 59 tackles, 12 for a loss, and seven sacks.

Louisville basketball men's update

Pat Kelsey and his Cardinals close out the regular season today at KFC Yum! Center. Louisville men's basketball made history in its last win, as the Cardinals secured the most wins in conference play and had two players score 35 points in consecutive games for the first time since 1956.

UofL secured a double-bye in the ACC Tournament, but their seeding has yet to be decided. The Cardinals will be the No. 1, No. 2, or No. 3 seed. Click here to find out how Louisville can secure the No. 1 seed.

The ACC Tournament begins March 11, but Louisville's first game will be the quarterfinals on March 13.

Louisville women's basketball fall in quarterfinals

Jeff Walz and Louisville women's basketball secured a nail-bitter win in overtime against the Clemson Tigers in the second round of the ACC Tournament. However, the Cardinals could not overcome the No. 3 seed, Duke Blue Devils, as they fell 61-48 on Friday Night.

According to ESPN's Charlie Creme bracketology projection, UofL will be the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Louisville baseball update

Louisville baseball improves to 10-2 on the season after a dominant 10-2 victory over UIC Friday. The Cardinals put up at least one run in the game's first five innings, including four in the third. Dan McDonnell and UofL are back at it again today at 1:00 p.m. local time from Jim Patterson Stadium against UIC.
