Louisville got some bad injury news in its Week 2 win over James Madison, losing linebacker Stanquan Clark to a long-term ankle injury, and with Clark out in Week 4 against Bowling Green, the hits have kept coming.

Starting cornerback Tayon Holloway limped off the field in the first half, and according to reporters at L&N Stadium on Saturday, he headed straight to the medical tent.

Holloway has played the second-most snaps at outside cornerback for the Cardinals' defense this season, trailing only Jabari Mack. The junior is in his second season at Louisville after transferring from North Carolina, and has been slated for a big role in Mark Hagen and Ron English’s defense.

Last season, Holloway played 259 total defensive snaps and recorded four pass breakups in coverage. Holloway was suspended from the program indefinitely last November for an ongoing legal matter. He was charged with strangulation and assault, but the case was dismissed, and he was reinstated by the program over the summer.

If Holloway is forced to miss time, Louisville will likely lean on talented redshirt freshman Rae’Mon Mosby to take on an increased role at cornerback, along with Justin Agu and Rodney Johnson. Mosby has played just 22 snaps across the first two games of the season, all in the Cardinals’ Week 1 win over Eastern Kentucky. He did not see the field in Week 2 against James Madison.

Agu also saw his snap count decrease in Week 2 after seeing a significant workload in Louisville's Week 1 blowout. Agu played just six snaps against JMU, all at outside cornerback.

Tayon Holloway latest injury updates Week 4:

Holloway was injured making a tackle in the first half of Louisville’s Week 4 matchup with Bowling Green. He limped off to the sidelines after being attended to by trainers and was assisted to the medical tent. He has yet to return.

UPDATE:

Holloway was able to return before the end of the first half, as Louisville executed a goalline stand before the intermission and preserve a 21-3 lead. Teammate D'Angelo Hutchinson came away with the Cardinals' second interception of Bowling Green QB Drew Pyne.
