When it comes to the 2026 class, it is clear Tyran Stokes is Pat Kelsey's No. 1 guy. Stokes isn't just the No. 1 recruit in the nation, a gold medalist, and a future NBA star, but he is also a Louisville native.

Louisville basketball has attended multiple games of his this summer and have already earned an official visit from Stokes back in October 2024, but since their visit, he has visited Kentucky and Kansas. Stokes is the consensus No. 1 recruit in the 2026 class, and he is proving why this summer.

After earning a gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cups, Stokes competed at the Peach Jam, where he had NBA superstar Ja Morant pull up to watch him compete. Now, Stokes' mom just gave a crucial update for his recruiting process as she announced when he is thinking of committing and where he is visiting before he announces his commitment.

Tyran Stokes mom reveals crucial recruiting update

Keaira Stokes reportedly announced that her son and the nation's No. 1 overall recruit plans to visit Oregon, USC, and Gonzaga all before he announces his commitment. She also went on to state he son has mentioned he wants to commit before the season starts, meaning his commitment most likely should come in November.

"I know those will be done before the school season starts," Stokes' mom reportedly stated, according to 247Sports' Jody Demling. "I don't know when a decision will come, but I think he wants to hopefully do it before the season."

"I think he has mentioned a few times, maybe wanting to before the school season starts, so he can coast into the school season," Stokes' mom stated per Demling's report. "It's a tough process. But we don't know a date."

While Louisville fans still don't know a date, it appears the commitment announcement is likely to come in that popular November signing period. Many recruits like to commit before their senior season, so they can enjoy their final high school season without the massive weight of a commitment on their mind.

Stokes' mother makes it seem that these six schools are the frontrunners for him, and recently, Kentucky has emerged as the favorite in many reporters' eyes. However, On3 Sports still gives Louisville the best odds, per their rankings, under Stokes' profile.

It would be a crushing blow to the University of Louisville and Kelsey if the Louisville native chooses Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats over the 5-star hometown and the Cardinals, so it is crucial for Louisville to earn his commitment over the next few months.
