Louisville football is set to take on Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl, and Cardinals fans are hoping for another nine-win season. They have their minds on something much more important. Earlier in December, the coaching carousel continued as Michigan fired its former head coach, Sherrone Moore.
A program like Michigan firing their head coach means a coach like Brohm is right back into the mix for the open job. Brohm was linked to every Power Four program seeking a job and was considered a top target for programs like Penn State, Florida, and LSU. So, now that Michigan joins the party and is searching for a job, Brohm is right there at the top of the list for the Wolverines.
As the offseason approaches, Louisville fans are growing increasingly concerned about these rumors, as Josh Heird must keep his head coach position. In the latest report, a Michigan reporter, Chris Balas, considers Brohm a "strong candidate."
Jeff Brohm rumors to Michigan has Louisville fans on high alert
Joel Klatt first linked Brohm to Michigan, but all he said was "Michigan is Michigan," and it seemed like he just thought it could be a possibility because of the name and history. The Cards fans weren't really concerned when Klatt named Brohm a candidate, but now a Michigan beat writer doesn't just name him a candidate; he says interest is growing after Alabama's win.
“Louisville’s Jeff Brohm has surfaced as a strong candidate now after Michigan moves on from DeBoer, whose Alabama team beat Oklahoma yesterday to essentially remove him from the running,” Balas stated in his recent article. “As reported, Michigan was prepared to do ‘whatever it took’ to land him … but as of now doesn’t appear willing to wait that long.”
Cardinals fans raised their eyebrows reading this quote, as not only does Balas state that Brohm is a "strong candidate," but he also makes it seem like the Wolverines are moving on from DeBoer. Louisville fans are immediatley calling on Heird on social media, begging the Cards to officially extend his contract and give him the deserved pay raise.
Brohm right now has the 43rd highest contract in college football, and for a coach with his impressive resume, especially when he has been at Louisville, the Cards have to do everything in their power to keep him.
It was reported on Dec. 3 that he shot down Florida, Penn State, and LSU, and he wants to stay at Louisville after his contract extension. However, Balas' report has the Cards fans a bit worrisome, and they are calling Heird to make his move immediatley to avoid a disastrous situation and losing their elite coach to the Wolverines.
