Louisville football is taking on Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl this afternoon, as the Cards look to try and earn their ninth win of the season. Since Louisville added Jeff Brohm as their head coach, the Cards have earned nine wins or more in both seasons under their new head coach, and this afternoon, they will try to make it their third straight season of winning at least nine wins.

However, while the bowl game, of course, has significant meaning for the program, players, and staff, the fans and media are focused on something much more important leading up to it. Michigan fired its head coach earlier this month, and, of course, Brohm has been listed as one of the top targets. However, this time around, it has a much different feeling with Brohm linked to a different job, as Louisville fans are beginning to grow worried if their head coach is going to leave them for the Wolverines.

Latest Jeff Brohm to Michigan rumors have Louisville fans on edge

The 2025 coaching carousel has been complete and utter chaos, and while Louisville wasn't part of it in searching for a new coach, they have been in the thick of it, trying to keep their head coach. After the Cards upset the undefeated and No. 2 Miami Hurricanes at the time, Brohm's name immediatley skyrocketed up the program's target list, and he became one of the top targets for elite programs like Penn State, LSU, and Florida.

Brohm addressed the situation earlier this month and stated he isn't interested in other positions, however, with Michigan's job now open and the latest rumors, Cards fans are beginning to fear the worst.

"Who is in the crosshairs right now?" Webb stated in an interview with CBS Sports. "You have to look at Jeff Brohm. Jeff Brohm from Louisville. He's been a guy that's been vetted very thoroughly from the beginning. The search firm reached out to him, reached out to his agent. Then, they made direct contact yesterday (Sunday). So, how quickly could that escalate? You could see that escalate quite rapidly in the next couple of days. I think you could see Jeff Brohm shoot to the top of the list. If you don't see that escalate, it could fizzle."

Cardinals fans now have their full attention on keeping Brohm and are begging Josh Heird to give their head coach an extension. Most around the program believe Brohm wants to stay at Louisville, but he also wants enough NIL money and wants to compete for an ACC Title and be a College Football Playoff contender.

Brohm currently has the 43rd-highest-paid contract in college football, and there is no secret that he deserves a raise and an extension after his first three seasons. Louisville was able to keep Brohm and convinced him to stay over Penn State, Florida, and LSU, but can they do it one last time, and with one of the biggest programs in the sport?

Louisville has its eyes on key transfer players like Dylan Raiola and DJ Lagway, but if the Cards lose Brohm, it is hard to imagine this program going out and getting a QB like those two. All eyes are on these rumors, and after the game, it sounds like the fans are going to get the answers to their questions.
