The first player to commit on Saturday was Joseph Jefferson II, a safety transfer from Purdue. Jefferson initially committed to Western Michigan but decided to enter his name back into the portal. He is now going to be a big addition to the Cardinals' defensive back room.

Louisville needed much-needed depth and experience, and the Purdue transfer played in 12 of the Boilermakers' games last season, including two starts. The 6-foot-0, 190-pound safety earned 31 tackles, two of which were for a loss. The sophomore's best game came against Oregon State, where he secured 10 total tackles, six of which were solo.

After Louisville landed Jefferson, they quickly were able to land their second tight end commitment and their second commit from San Jose State. The newest tight end to transfer to Louisville is Jacob Stewart, who will now join wide receiver Treyshun Hurry, also making the transition from San Jose State to Louisville.

Stewart started in seven games last season for the Spartans and played in all 13 games. He earned 34 catches for 287 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. He was one of the Spartans' top targets last season as his receptions and touchdowns were No. 3 on the team for San Jose State.
