The Louisville Cardinals secured their first commitment from the spring transfer portal, and it is the exact player they needed. The Cardinals received a commitment from Dacari Collins, a former 4-star recruit out of high scool.
Collins is a 6-foot-4, 212-pound wide receiver who just had his best collegiate season and is expected to be the elite WR3 option the Cardinals desperately need. Louisville's wide receiver room is extremely thin after Jojo Stone entered the portal, and after this commitment, the Cardinals' offense takes a huge leap forward.
The new Cardinal wideout will be an explosive receiver for this elite Cardinals offense, as he will play along with Caullin Lacy and Chris Bell. Collins secured 24 catches, 314 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns for the North Carolina State Wolfpack last season.
Louisville football adds explosive 4-star WR transfer from ACC opponent
Collins was a 4-star prospect out of high school, and he initially committed to the Clemson Tigers. He has a big frame and should immediately emerge as one of the Cardinals' top red-zone targets. He has tremendous ball-tracking ability and is an elite catcher in the 50/50 scenarios.
According to ESPN, he was ranked as high as the No. 127 recruit in the class of 2021 out of high school. He was a consensus top-25 wide receiver in that class, ranked as high as the No. 22 wide receiver and the No. 14 player out of Georgia per 247Sports.
With the Tigers, he didn't see much action. In two seasons, he received 17 catches for 229 yards across 10 games for Dabo Swinney. He played 317 snaps for the Tigers but then transferred to the Wolfpack.
In his two years with North Carolina State, he secured 38 catches for 526 yards and four receiving touchdowns. The Cardinals got their elite playmaker on the outside that they needed, and he will be a massive target for Moss in the red zone.
