Louisville football got a crushing blow yesterday when the Cardinals learned key transfer commitment Hardley Gilmore IV will flip his commitment to the Baylor Bears. With the Cardinals losing Gilmore and Jeff Brohm and the Louisville Cardinals are forced to use the portal to find another receiver.
Well, maybe they don’t have to land a receiver from the Transfer Portal after all, as Brohm recruited from within again and was able to convince one of his former receivers to return to Louisville. Cardinals fans saw five wide receivers enter the Transfer Portal, but late last night it was reported that TreyShun Hurry will withdraw from the portal after Gilmore flipped to Baylor and will now return for his second season.

Louisville football's TreyShun Hurry withdraws from Transfer Portal
Hurry's return is a major boost to this wide receiver room, as the Cardinals will now have Vanderbilt transfer Tre Richardson, Florida State transfer LaWayne McCoy, Kentucky transfer Montavin Quisenberry, Drake transfer Jackson Voth, and now Hurry. The San Jose State transfer joined Louisville last offseason and now brings additional depth and experience to the group.
Hurry transferred to Louisville as the No. 222 overall transfer in the portal last offseason and was ranked No. 40 among wide receivers. Louisville earned his commitment last offseason over Power Four programs like Miami, BYU, USF, and West Virginia. At San Jose State, he logged a career high of 482 receiving yards on 28 catches while adding two touchdowns.
Before San Jose State, he played at Weber State, where he logged 31 catches for 410 receiving yards and one touchdown, including his sophomore season, where he earned 29 catches for 384 yards and his one touchdown.
In his first season with Louisville, Hurry made an immediate impact with 15 catches for 122 yards and one touchdown. Now, with the Cardinals losing Chris Bell, Caullin Lacy, and Antonio Meeks, Hurry has an opportunity to take a major step in the 2026 season. He ranked No. 6 on the team in receptions and No. 7 in receiving yards. The only returning Cardinal to earn more receiving yards and receptions last season was tight end Jaleel Skinner.
Hurry is the fourth Cardinal to withdraw from the portal or return to Louisville after announcing he would enter the Transfer Portal. Brohm and Vince Marrow recruited from within and prevented Isaac Brown, AJ Green, and Antonio Watts from transferring to another program after they announced they were planning to enter the portal.
