With Miami not having to play Louisville or SMU, the Cardinals-Mustangs Week 3 showdown was massive for ACC Championship Game implications. Now, with Louisville securing the 41-31 win over SMU, the Cardinals not only moved up to No. 16 in the AP Polls, but they are now the biggest threat to Miami to win the ACC Title.
FanDuel recently updated its ACC Championship and ACC Title odds, and, unsurprisingly, after Louisville’s huge win, Cardinals fans saw their odds soar.

Entering the Cardinals-Mustangs game, Miami was the dominant favorite to win the ACC. The Hurricanes had -600 odds to reach Charlotte for the ACC Championship and -220 odds to win it all. Behind Miami, SMU and Louisville were very close, with the Mustangs at +750 to win the ACC Title and +170 to make the game, and the Cardinals at +230 to make it to the ACC Championship Game and +850 to win it all.
Well, after Louisville’s eye-popping win over SMU, the Cardinals leapfrogged SMU and are now the clear No. 2 team in the conference behind Miami. Entering Week 4, Miami now has -230 odds to win the conference and -700 odds to make it to the game. Behind Miami is now the Louisville Cardinals with +130 odds to make it to the big game and +600 odds to win their first ACC Title.
With the Cardinals' win over SMU, the Mustangs' odds took a huge hit, as they now have +440 odds to reach the game and +1500 odds to win the ACC Championship Game.
Louisville’s win over SMU put the Cardinals in an excellent position to go on a run and return to the ACC Championship Game for the second time. The Cardinals' schedule is very favorable, as they don't have to play Miami, Clemson, Virginia, or Duke, and ESPN Analytics heavily favors the Cards, giving UofL a 60 percent chance or higher of winning each game.
Miami is still the clear favorite to win the conference, but this Cardinals team is a legitimate threat to the Hurricanes' chances. Louisville beat Miami last year on the road, and this Cardinals team looks even better.
Plenty of football remains, but right now Louisville looks like the clear No. 2 team in the ACC after their huge win over SMU.
