Louisville football has had a dominant offseason so far through two weeks, as the Cardinals have loaded their offense with tons of talent, whether that is recruiting from within and keeping Isaac Brown and Keyjuan Brown, or recruiting the Transfer Portal and adding Florida State transfer Lawayne McCoy and Ohio State transfer Lincoln Kienholz.
As for the defensive side, Louisville has had a near-perfect offseason in terms of recruiting from within and avoiding key players hitting the portal. The Cardinals found a way to keep Clev Lubin, AJ Green, Stanquan Clark, Antonio Watts, and TJ Capers. The only area of need now is their secondary. The Cardinals lost four of their top five defensive backs from last season, and while they made a big-time splash with Koen Entringer, the Cards are still looking to add some pieces.
So, as the portal deadline passes, the Cardinals' main focus will likely be the secondary, and Louisville fans got some exciting news this afternoon as the Cardinals are reportedly hosting one of the best cornerbacks still available, Elon transfer Brycen Scott.
Louisville football lands a Transfer Portal visit from elite FCS CB
Jeff Brohm has done a good job this offseason at earning commitments once a transfer gets on campus. Louisville has had the fourth-best offseason according to On3Sports, and now it can get a huge boost in its secondary if it can seal a commitment after Scott’s visit.

The Elon transfer is ranked as the sixth-best cornerback still available, No. 678 overall, and No. 67 among all cornerbacks who entered the Transfer Portal. Scott is a ballhawk who Louisville fans would love in their secondary, as he finished the 2025 season with 35 tackles, 8 pass breakups, and 1 sack.
The sophomore defensive back is 6-foot and 180 pounds and has two years of eligibility left. The Cardinals will most likely turn to cornerbacks, safeties, and centers moving forward this offseason. The addition of Scott would be a massive boost for Louisville’s secondary and would be the third cornerback added this offseason.
The Cardinals have landed four defensive backs so far, with two of them safeties: Iowa transfer Koen Entringer and Ole Miss transfer TJ Banks, and two of them cornerbacks: Texas transfer Santana Wilson and Kentucky transfer DJ Waller.
