Jeff Brohm and his Louisville Cardinals get their first good news from the spring transfer portal, as they are set to host former Utah tight end C.J. Jacobsen.
The Cardinals have seen five players leave this spring transfer portal and have yet to land any commitments. It is still early into the spring portal, which opened on Wednesday, April 16, and will remain open until next Friday, April 25.
The 10-day window presents a significant opportunity for Brohm and his Cardinals to address some glaring areas if they want to compete with ACC powerhouses like Clemson and Miami. The Utah transfer announced on Thursday that the Cardinals are officially set to host this elite, under-the-radar tight end from Utah on Monday, April 21.

Jacobsen was a 3-star recruit out of high school and was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 player in Idaho and the No. 32 tight end in the nation. The Utah transfer is a redshirt freshman who has not seen any playing time or action on the field in his two seasons with the Utes.

Louisville lost multiple top tight ends from last season as Mark Redman declared for the NFL Draft, and Jamari Johnson and Izayah Cummings entered their names in the transfer portal. While Jacobsen might not be the most well-known tight end in the transfer portal, he is 6-foot-4, 235 pounds, and has the build to be a great option off the bench for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals need some depth at the tight end position, as they don't have much experience in their tight end room. Nate Kurisky and Jaleel Skinner are their top two tight ends for next year as of now, and both have not seen the field much in their collegiate careers. While both have the potential to be solid playmakers for Louisville, Brohm needs to fill out this position and bring in some tight ends to give this thin tight end room some depth.
For all the latest on Louisville football's offseason, stay tuned.
