Louisville football has a battle going for the second spot for the quarterback room right now, and while Deuce Adams and Brady Allen are getting a lot of the attention, offensive coordinator Brian Brohm mentioned the true freshman has taken a massive leap since fall camp started.
Mason Mims is a 3-star commitment out of Oxford High School. The pocket passer quarterback committed to Louisville back in November 2023 when Mims committed to Louisville over Pitt, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, and others.
Brohm was quick to mention the true freshman on his own when he was asked about the quarterback battle for the QB2 spot, and had some strong words of encouragement for Mims.

Mason Mims turning heads in fall camp amid QB battle
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback comes from Oxford, Alabama, and will look to help improve this quarterback room as much as he can in his true freshman season. Brohm emphasized that the freshman quarterback is having a great fall camp so far, and he has seen drastic improvements from their 3-star commitment in his first fall camp.
"Mason Mims has come in and done a good job as a freshman," Brohm stated after Louisville's second scrimmage. "He came in early, enrolled early, and he's been growing a lot. You've seen him grow up quite a bit just through the last couple of weeks. So we've got a good group of quarterbacks that are working hard to get better.
Mims was ranked as high as No. 676 in the nation in the 2023 recruiting class, the No. 37 quarterback, and the No. 27 recruit out of Alabama. The 3-star prospect threw for 8,405 passing yards and 89 touchdowns and completed 71 percent of his passes.
Head coach Jeff Brohm was asked about Mims back in December 2024 on National Signing Day, and the Cardinals' head coach appears to feel they got a hidden gem.
"He's got a lot of promise," Brohm stated. "I just think you can tell watching film and watching him that he's kind of got the it factor."
The Cardinals' head coach ended his segment on Mims by stating he has great poise, he is an accurate thrower, and he believes he will be a great quarterback at Louisville. He made it clear he is a hard worker, and that is already being proven true during his first fall camp, and Brian Brohm appears to see drastic improvements already in the freshmen's first couple of weeks at fall camp.
While Mims will be that QB4 on the roster and will have some work to do over the next couple of years, both the Cardinals' head coach and offensive coordinator appear to be high on the true freshman and think he is proving he has a future in this league.
