Louisville football was on a bit of a skid the past couple of months, but all of a sudden, the tides are beginning to turn. Louisville is having an eye-popping week in the middle of July, and the Cardinals fans are quickly noticing the work from Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow.
Earlier this summer, Louisville lost multiple commitments, including a local 4-star Allen Evans and 4-star Chuck Alexander Jr. from Ohio. The Cards class ranking dropped all the way to No. 48 according to 247 Sports, but now that has changed since this huge week.
Louisville landed a commitment from 4-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, and their top-ranked commitment, Ja’Hyde Brown, skyrocketed up the rankings on Monday. So after these two massive updates, Louisville is back where the Cardinals want to be and are making some noise once again.
Louisville football's 2027 classes soars after Kaden Fife commits
Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class has been a bit of a roller coaster. They started red-hot and were once ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation; however, they then dropped to No. 48 after the crushing loss to Alexander and Evans, but now they have just soared back into the top 30.
Since Louisville landed commitments from Fife and Brown rose in the rankings, the Cardinals have now re-entered On3Sports' top 30 in their 2027 recruiting team rankings. The Cards round out their top 30, coming in right at No. 30 in the nation.
Louisville has earned 16 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, including its top-rated commitment, Ja’Hyde Brown. The local Louisville native is a big reason the Cards are ranked No. 30 at the moment, as the Christian Academy of Louisville 4-star wide receiver has had a dominant offseason, soaring him up the rankings from No. 252 in the nation to No. 66.
Brown now ranks as high as the No. 2 overall recruit from Kentucky in the 2027 cycle and the No. 11 wide receiver in the nation. The 4-star Louisville commit is the Cardinals' highest-rated commitment in the 2027 recruiting class and one of their four 4-star and blue-chip commitments.
Also, one of their four 4-star and blue-chip commitments and a key reason they jumped up in the rankings is their most recent commitment. Fife was recruited by elite programs and received offers from over 34 programs, like Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Miami, Texas, Kentucky, and others.
He originally committed to Tennessee, but decommitted from the Volunteers late last month and now ultimately picked Louisville over powerhouse programs. The 4-star defensive lineman is 6-foot-5, 295 pounds, and ranks as high as No. 390 overall in the 2027 cycle, No. 33 among defensive linemen, and No. 11 out of the state of Alabama.
The Cardinals now need to build off this massive week and try to land that next blue-chip recruit and continue to climb up these rankings. The Cardinals have only had two recruiting classes finish inside the top 25, and if Brohm can get a couple more 4-stars, Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class might etch its name in the history books.
