The college football season is under three weeks away as the Cardinals are set to take on Ole Miss in a huge Week 1 showdown in Tennessee. Louisville vs. Ole Miss is the only rank-vs.-rank showdown in Week 1, as the AP Polls were released yesterday and the Cardinals learned they are No. 24 while Ole Miss is No. 9.
Louisville will enter the season ranked for the first time since 2017, and the Cardinals will look to shock the nation and pull off a massive win over a top-10 SEC team. The Cardinals are currently 6.5-point underdogs in this huge game, but everyone knows Louisville's Jeff Brohm as the giant killer.
When looking at how Louisville can upset Ole Miss, a lot of reporters circle the Cardinals' running back room and, more specifically, Isaac Brown. The Cardinals' running back room is one of the best in the nation, and Brown is one of the top running backs in college football. However, the AP All-America team apparently disagrees, giving him the motivation he needs for this upcoming season and the huge Week 1 game.
Isaac Brown left out of AP Preseason All-America Team
On Tuesday afternoon, the AP All-America team was released, and Louisville fans and Brown quickly noticed the Cardinals star running back was left out. Brown has been trending as a preseason All-American on almost every list, except this one.
AP All-America team consisted of four running backs, two on the First Team and two on the Second Team. Ole Miss's Kewan Lacy and Missouri’s Ahmad Hardy earned the spots on the First Team, while Miami’s Mark Fletcher Jr. and BYU’s LJ Martin secured the spots on the Second Team.
Brown is coming off a year in which he missed six games with injuries but was still dominant in the eight he played. When he was healthy and on the field, he was one of the most dominant running backs in the country, rushing for 884 yards and seven touchdowns on just 101 carries, and averaging an eye-popping 8.8 yards per carry.
The Cardinals star running back ran for 100 yards or more in six of the eight games he played in 2025, including the Cardinals' upset over Miami, where he rushed 15 times for 113 yards, and against Boston College, where he rushed 14 times for 205 yards and one touchdown.
In his true freshman season, Brown was one of the best running backs in the country. He won the ACC Rookie of the Year and the ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year after rushing for 1,173 yards and rushing for 100 yards or more in five games.
Brown has proven he is one of the most dangerous running backs in the nation, and now he just got another reason to come out-red-hot in 2026.
