5. Defensive line
The Cardinals' defensive line was the most dominant unit this season. This group was a big reason why this defense stepped up, and it was because of key players like Clev Lubin, Wesley Bailey, and Rene Konga, all of whom Louisville might lose this offseason. Bailey and Konga are both redshirt seniors, but Lubin is a junior. Lubin might come back, but it depends on whether he wants to enter the NFL Draft or even the Transfer Portal again.
Winning the trenches is one of the biggest keys to a football game, and this season, Louisville's defensive line consistently put the Cards in position to win the games. The Cardinals have to try to replace their top dogs this offseason, which won't be easy. While they have key players like AJ Green and Jerry Lawson returning, they must add some elite defensive linemen.
It won't be an easy task, and hopefully Lubin returns for his senior season, but if the Cards do lose their top three linemen from this season, this unit quickly becomes an area they must address this winter.
