Louisville football fans are locked in on keeping their head coach, Jeff Brohm, as he is currently in the mix for the open job at Michigan, but through all of that chaos, there's also the Transfer Portal. The portal opens on January 2, and on this Christmas Eve, Louisville has now lost two players to the portal.
Earlier this morning, Louisville lost a fan-favorite and an in-state commitment, Shaun Boykins Jr. The Kentucky native rushed for 190 yards on 37 carries with a touchdown in 2025 after being the No. 7 recruit out of Kentucky in the 2024 recruiting class.
However, just now Hayes Fawcett broke the news that star edge rusher for the Cards, AJ Green, will enter the Transfer Portal after his breakout season with Louisville.

Louisville football fans stunned after star defender enters the Transfer Portal
Green was a cornerstone on defense as he was one of the most dominant edge rushers in college football this season. Green is immediatley one of the top defenders available in the portal and is a massive loss for Jeff Brohm and this Cardinals defense.
Green is a redshirt sophomore who has two years of eligibility left and is coming off his best collegiate season. He spent his first three seasons with Louisville, including his breakout 2025 season, when he logged 31 tackles, six tackles for loss, five sacks, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick.
Louisville has now lost five players to the portal, including two today. Louisville is reportedly in contact with star quarterbacks Dylan Raiola and DJ Lagway, but it will be crucial for this staff to reload on defense. The Cards' defense just took a massive hit up front, and is already losing key pieces in Rene Konga, D’Angelo Hutchinson, Wes Bailey, Jabari Mack, and others.
All eyes now quickly turn to star defensive end Clev Lubin, as the fans begin to worry if he will enter the portal or the NFL Draft.
