Louisville basketball is the talk of college basketball this week after the Cardinals passed the eye test and defeated their in-state rival, the Kentucky Wildcats. The Cards defeated the Cats 96-88, earning their first victory over Kentucky since 2020.
Now, after a win of that magnitude, of course, the media and college basketball experts are buying into Louisville, and recently, Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68 just said what every Louisville fan is thinking.

Jeff Goodman says what every Louisville basketball fan is thinking
After the Cardinals' win over Kentucky, the Field of 68 dropped a video on YouTube about their thoughts on the game, and they had nothing but positive things to say about Louisville. The group of experts is blown away by the Cardinals' backcourt and pace of play, and they were impressed that Louisville was able to play that fast pace, but only to turn the ball over six times.
And when it was all said and done, Goodman made a bold prediction that he is now thinking about picking the Cardinals over the Duke Blue Devils to win the ACC Championship.
"I just don't see too many teams that can match up with like three guys who can shoot 40 percent from three," Goodman stated on Louisville. He was then asked by a co-host if he would take them over Duke in the ACC, and Louisville fans will love his comment. "I might now, after watching them."
Goodman doesn't state he will pick Louisville outright, but the college basketball expert makes it clear it is a toss-up between the Cardinals and the Blue Devils, and after Louisville's win, he might be leaning the Cards' way.
Duke is currently the favorite to win the ACC at +140, with Louisville right there behind them at +155. The Cardinals are the Blue Devils' biggest threat to repeating and winning the ACC Title back-to-back years, and Duke is clearly the Cards' biggest threat to winning its first ACC Title. The Blue Devils are led by multiple 5-star freshmen, having had the best 2025 recruiting class, including Cameron Boozer.
These two ACC rivals will play each other twice this season, with the first game scheduled for January 6 at KFC Yum! Center and the next matchup just 20 days later on January 26 from Cameron Indoor Stadium. It is going to be a thrilling matchup between these two programs, but for Louisville fans, it is exciting to hear an expert such as Goodman state they are National Title contenders and might be his new favorite to win the ACC.
