Louisville basketball received huge recruiting news to start the 2026 calendar year, as the program and fans learned they will host 4-star Trevor Manhertz for an official visit. The 4-star is a small forward in the 2027 class and has emerged as one of the Cards' top targets.
The race for Manhertz's commitment has become an ACC battle: the Cardinals learned they will host him for their official visit on January 4, but they also learned that Duke will host him four days earlier, on December 31. The Cards and Blue Devils have already extended an offer to the 4-star, while Notre Dame, Miami, Virginia, and others are showing interest in him.

Louisville set to host elite 4-star SF for official visit in 2026
Louisville will look to add its third recruit to its 2027 class, as the Cards continue to show interest in this 4-star small forward. The 6-foot-8, 185-pound small forward is a unanimous top 100 recruit in the 2027 class and is ranked as high as No. 63 in the nation by 247Sports. He is regarded as the No. 16 small forward in the 2027 class and the No. 3 recruit out of North Carolina.
Manhertz attends Christ School in Cary, N.C., where he averaged 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per game last season. He also shot impressive splits at 50.4 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc. The Cards extended their offer earlier this month on December 19, and now are clearly making a hard push for the 4-star by already landing an official visit.
Indiana was the first school to land a visit back in November, and shortly after, extended an offer to the 4-star. Louisville will be in a heated recruiting battle with the Hoosiers and the Blue Devils for this coveted 4-star, as the Cards will try to improve their 2027 class, which already has more commitments than their 2026 class.
The Cards have commitments from Ferlandes Wright and Isaac Ellis, who each rank as 3-star recruits and top-200 prospects in the 2027 class. Wright ranks as high as No. 148 in the nation, while Ellis ranks No. 192 in the nation.
For all the latest on Louisville basketball's 2025-26 season and recruiting, stay tuned.
