The college basketball season is almost here, and the Louisville-Kentucky rivalry is heating up. The Cardinals and Wildcats have one of the best rivalries in sports, and it is showing in mid-October.

Louisville’s Karter Knox just sent a bold message to Kentucky ahead of rivalry showdown

These two programs constantly go back and forth, creating a thrilling matchup every year. The two coaches made major moves this offseason, including Louisville landing No. 1 overall transfer Flory Bidunga, and Kentucky landing No. 2 transfer Milan Momcilovic. Beyond those two players, each roster has plenty of potential, and they're ready to take this rivalry to the next level.

Louisville’s 4-star transfer Karter Knox sent a confident message to his older brother, who played for Kentucky earlier this week, and Kentucky’s Malachi Moreno just responded.

Louisville-Kentucky is going to be must watch TV in December

Earlier this week, Louisville fans loved Knox confidence and comments. The 4-star transfer from Arkansas told the nation, “This is the best team in the nation right here. We got all the dogs on the floor, and it is hard to play against a team with all dogs on the floor.”  And right before that comment, he didn’t shy away from being confident against Kentucky, telling the Cats the Cardinals are going to snap their losing streak on the road to Kentucky.

“We haven’t beaten them in 10 years at Kentucky, but this year is going to be a different outcome,”stated Knox.

That, of course, sparked this rivalry and had Louisville and Kentucky fans going back and forth on social media over the past few days. Now, Kentucky’s Malachi Moreno just responded.

“People can say what they can say, but we’ll see in December,” stated Moreno.

This rivalry remains one of the best in the nation, and a couple of players going back and forth in mid-October before the season proves it. Louisville fans have nothing wrong with Knox's comments, as they want confidence and are desperate to snap this losing streak on the road to their in-state rival.

Kelsey and Knox will try to lead Louisville to its first win in Lexington since the 2007-2008 season, when UofL defeated Kentucky 89-75. Louisville has lost its last eight road games against Kentucky, including in Kelsey’s first year as head coach, when it lost 93-85.

However, Louisville got the best of Kentucky last year at home, snapping a three-game losing streak to Kentucky, and will now look to build on that and secure its second straight win over the Wildcats. It would mark the first time UofL has defeated Kentucky in consecutive seasons since 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

The two will square off in Lexington on December 12 in what promises to be another thrilling rivalry showdown. This could be a top-15 showdown, and fans can not wait for this intense game.
