The second College Football Playoff rankings were just released, and the Louisville football fans saw their Cardinals plummet in the rankings after their crushing loss to Cal this past weekend. After the first CFP rankings, it became clear that the ACC was most likely to get just one team in the playoffs. However, after two massive upsets and these second rankings, the ACC is the biggest loser in these updated rankings.

Louisville comes in ranked No. 20 in the College Football Playoff rankings, proving the Cards' path to the College Football Playoffs is slim to none. The Cardinals no longer control their own destiny, and now, with Louisville far behind to make the top 12, they need a miracle to make the CFP.

Louisville CFP odds plummet after second rankings revealed

The Cardinals' loss to Cal crushed their hopes and dreams of making not only the ACC Championship game, but also the College Football Playoffs. Louisville had everything on the line entering Week 10 as the Cardinals were ranked No. 14 and emerging as the favorite to win the ACC. And after Virginia's loss to Wake Forest, Louisville had a massive opportunity in front of them. However, they fell to Cal, and now they dropped to No. 20 in the CFP rankings, and the fans are losing all hope of making the playoffs.

Georgia Tech is now the frontrunner again, ranked No. 16 and with +186 odds to make the playoffs. Miami, however, is ranked ahead of them at No. 15 but has +540 odds to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel. The College Football Playoff rankings make it clear that it is now Georgia Tech's to lose. The Cards' odds to make the CFP are now +1400, which makes them have lower odds than Georgia Tech, Miami, Pitt, SMU, and Virginia.

Other ACC teams ranked are Pitt at No. 22 and Virginia at No. 19. Louisville must win out, which means they need to beat a solid Clemson team this weekend, an SMU team on the road, and then Kentucky at home. While Louisville would finish with an impressive 10-2 record, it would be hard not to be disappointed, as they will most likely miss the ACC Championship game and the College Football Playoffs.
