Louisville football is on pace to secure its third win of the season, and the Cardinals fans saw their preseason star take over and make program history…again. The Cardinals needed a big-time performance from star running back Isaac Brown, and they got exactly that.
Louisville vs Florida State final odds and predictions
The Cardinals fell behind 14-0 after the first quarter, and after a slow start for Jeff Brohm and his offense, the Cards turned to one of their best players, Isaac Brown. Entering the season, Brown was trending as one of the country's top running backs, with ESPN ranking him No. 5 among running backs and No. 35 in all of college football.
After a slow first few games, Brown is starting to take off and show why he is worth the hype, as the star tailback broke free for multiple runs in Friday night's game, including a historic run in the second quarter.
Isaac Brown just made Louisville football history against Florida State
The Cardinals were backed up on their own three-yard line, needed breathing room, and decided to run Brown to the left side. Brown used his breakaway speed, found a gap, and ultimately reached the end zone, rushing for a 97-yard touchdown, now the longest play in Louisville football history.

With Keyjuan Brown on the sideline, Louisville desperately needed a big performance from Isaac, and that is what they got. Leading up to this Friday evening game, Isaac had 57 carries for 322 yards, which isn't bad for a college football running back, but it certainly isn’t up to Isaac’s standard.
Last year, he led college football in rushing yards per carry, with Brown averaging a dominant 8.8 yards per carry after logging 101 carries for 884 yards and seven touchdowns. This record-breaking play isn’t the first time Brown has etched his name into Louisville’s record books.
The star running back broke multiple records his freshman season, as he broke the program's record for most rushing yards from a true freshman with a dominant 1,173 yards, tied Lamar Jackson with 100 rushing yards or more in five games, and was the first Cardinal in program history to be named both the ACC Rookie of the Year and ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The Cardinals needed a spark this game, and Brown delivered. The preseason All-American has dominated the past two games, and hopefully Brohm and this offense continue to give Brown the carries he deserves.
