Point Guard: Jackson Shelstad
At point guard in this scenario, of course, the Oregon transfer would not start. Louisville has officially learned that Mikel Brown Jr. declared for the NBA Draft, so if Shelstad does commit as the Crystal Ball predictions hint at, then the 2024 5-star will replace the Cardinals' 5-star freshman.
Shelstad ranked as high as No. 6 among point guards and No. 24 overall in the 2023 recruiting class, and he showed that true 5-star potential immediately with Oregon. He made the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team his freshman season, followed it up by making the Big Ten All-Third Team his sophomore season, and this past season, he was trending toward making an All-Conference Team again.
His season was cut short by a hand injury, but in the 12 games he played, he scored 20 or more points five times and averaged career highs of 15.6 points, 4.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. He now ranks as high as No. 16 overall and No. 5 among point guards.
