Power Forward: Vangelis Zougris

Louisville saw Khani Rooths, Sananda Fru, and Mouhamed Camara all enter the Transfer Portal, which means, as of now, Kelsey’s No. 1 guy at power forward is Vangelis Zougris. The forward showed his ability to be a huge spark plug for the Cardinals last season when Kelsey moved him to the starting lineup, and potentially pairing him up with Flory Bidunga would be a tall and physical frontcourt.

The 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward came to Louisville from Greece, where he represented them on the international level at many events. Zougris averaged 14.4 points and 11.1 rebounds at the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship and 11.6 points and 8.3 rebounds at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket.

The Cardinals saw some of that physicality he can bring to the table at the end of the season. He averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in the final six games when he moved to the starting lineup, and while the Cardinals wouldn’t need him to score a whole lot, they would need him to bring that energy and physicality back for next season.
