Boom! Louisville football fans have been begging for it, and just moments ago, the Cardinals officially announced that Jeff Brohm and Louisville have agreed to a contract extension.
Brohm and Louisville officially agreed on a massive deal that will keep the Cardinals' head coach locked in until 2033. Brohm’s new contract reportedly runs for eight years and is worth $64.8 million. This has been long overdue, as the first report came out in November stating that Louisville’s AD, Josh Heird, and Brohm were negotiating a contract extension, but nothing came of it. Until now.

Louisville football ready to compete for College Football Playoffs
Brohm made it clear he wanted to stay at Louisville, as On3 Sports reported that powerhouse programs like Michigan, LSU, and Penn State were reaching out to him to try to flip him from Louisville. However, Brohm believes the Cardinals have something special, and he has a huge opportunity to change Louisville’s narrative and build the program’s tradition, so he ultimately decided to stay at Louisville rather than leave for those big-time programs.
"The fact that Louisville has not made the playoffs or won a national championship is appealing to me to try to do something that hasn’t been done before," Brohm stated in the interview with On3 Sports. "We’re close.”
A deal like this is exactly what the Louisville fans wanted, as Brohm continues to take this program to the next level. The Cardinals have earned big-time wins over programs like Notre Dame, Clemson, and Miami, but now they just have to put together a full season.
This deal proves Louisville is ready to contend not just for an ACC Title, but they want to compete for a National Championship. Brohm has a 28-12 record in his three seasons with Louisville, and has four impressive wins over top-five teams throughout his coaching career, including last year when he beat No. 2 Miami on the road.
Louisville fans and Brohm think the Cardinals built something special this offseason, adding multiple 4-star recruits and keeping Isaac Brown, AJ Green, Antonio Watts, and others. Brohm’s contract extension is what every Louisville fan wanted, and now the message is clear. Go compete for a spot in the College Football Playoffs.
