Louisville basketball and Pat Kelsey set their sights on the future as the Cardinals are one of the few teams trending with the consensus top 10 recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, Ryan Hampton.
The 5-star recruit announced on his social media page late last night that the Louisville Cardinals officially extended an offer to him. Hampton is one of the top targets in the 2027 recruiting class as he ranks in both 247Sports and On3 Sports' top 7.

Louisville basketball extends offer to 5-star Ryan Hampton
The consensus 5-star recruit is ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation per On3 Sports, and they rank him as the No. 1 shooting guard and the best Texas native as well. 247Sports ranks the Dallas, Texas native as a small forward and ranks him as high as No. 6 in the nation, the No. 2 small forward in the recruiting cycle, and the No. 2 recruit out of Texas.
Hampton is emerging as one of the top targets in the nation, with over 11 offers from elite programs like Auburn, Kansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound stock skyrocketed after playing for Drive Nation on the Nike EYBL circuit earlier this summer.
The 5-star recruit averaged an impressive 26.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, while shooting 61.4 percent from the field and 54.5 percent from the 3-point line.
On3 Sports gives SMU the early lead to land the top 10 recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, but this early in the race, it isn't anything to stress about just yet.
Louisville has extended offers to 10 recruits in the 2027 cycle already, and over 26 offers to the 2026 cycle. The Cardinals are still waiting to earn that first commitment in both the 2026 and 2027 recruiting classes, but with fall coming up fast, don't be surprised if Louisville has a massive September and October.
