Louisville basketball earns its first Quad 1A win of the season and earns its first win on the road over a ranked opponent after the Cardinals defeated the Miami Hurricanes 92-89. Louisville was led by its star guard Ryan Conwell after he got off to a hot start, scoring 18 points and splashing four 3-pointers in the first half. Adrian Wooley stepped up big-time in the second half after he finished with 15 points on 5-of-9 from the field, including the game-winning shot from beyond the arc.

A key to entering this game was getting hot from downtown, and that is exactly what Louisville did. The Cardinals shot an impressive 60 percent from beyond the arc in the first half after shooting 9-of-15 and finished shooting 50 percent from downtown after connecting on 12 total 3-pointers in the game. The Cards' win was big for many reasons, but the main one is that it locks the No. 6 seed in the ACC Tournament, giving Louisville the perfect path the Cards' fans wanted in the conference tourney.
Louisville basketball secures the No. 6 seed in ACC Tournament
With the Cardinals locking up the No. 6 seed, that means Louisville will play the winner of the No. 11 vs. No. 14 seed game on Wednesday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. local time on ESPNU/ESPN. It also means Louisville will face Miami in the quarterfinals if the Cards can win that first game and avoid Duke until the conference championship game.
Entering Saturday, the most important thing on the Cardinals fans' minds was, of course, winning, but also avoiding the Blue Devils in the quarterfinals. With Duke being the No. 1 seed and Louisville being the No. 6 seed, the Blue Devils are now on the opposite side of the bracket. Louisville will now have the perfect path back to the ACC Championship game, going through Miami in the quarterfinals and the No. 2 seed Virginia in the semifinals if all the top seeds take care of business.
The Cards' path is winnable and very doable to get back to the title game, as they just proved they can beat Miami, and they did it without Mikel Brown Jr. on the floor. And if the Cardinals get a chance to play Virginia again, Louisville has to like its chances, assuming Brown is ready to go in the semifinals showdown. Brown missed the first game back on Jan. 13, and with the Cards hoping the 5-star freshman is available for the conference tournament, the vibes are high once again heading into the postseason.
There is a lot to like for the Cardinals from the ACC Tournament. Louisville will be seed hunting in the ACC Tournament, and if the Cardinals can ride this win over Miami into the ACC Tournament and find its way back to the ACC Championship game, then the Cardinals' NCAA Tournament seed has a good chance to rise.
