With just 16 days away from the ACC Tournament, it is time to dive into what Louisville basketball has done in the regular season to get to where they are, and who they could possibly play in the ACC Tournament.
Louisville basketball seems to most likley be the No. 2 seed, as they sit a game behind Duke, and with just four games remaining they have already locked up a bye, and it seems a lock they will be a two seed.
However, even it they fall to a three seed, their potential teams will still be listed below, as we are mapping out the easiest and toughest paths to ACC Tournament title for Louisville basketball.
Toughest path for Louisville basketball to win 2025 ACC Tournament
There is no easy path to win the ACC Tournament, especially when the Cardinals never have won a Tournament, but UofL is putting on a historic season and breaking a bunch of program records.
Louisville toughest path to the ACC Title is if they fall to the No. 3 seed and would have to face SMU or North Carolina in the quarterfinals. UNC and SMU have shown potential of making the NCAA Tournament, and these two teams will be fighting for their season and would be desperate, and a win over the Cardinals could help them make the tournament.
However, if Cardinals can squeak by one of these two teams, they would be facing a determined Clemson in semifinals, and then Duke in the championship if they can make it. The path of facing all NCAA Tournament opponents would be tough for these Cardinals squad, it is doable and they can win, but it would be hard.
Facing Clemson and Duke back-to-back would give Louisville and opportunity of sky rocketing in the seedings if they can win, but if Cardinals lose in the quarterfinals or semifinals their seeding could potential fall.
Easiest path for Louisville basketball to win 2025 ACC Tournament
Louisville basketball eight-man rotation has been stepping up, as the Cardinals have won five straight, and 15 of their last 16. Cardinals, J'Vonne Hadley and Reyne Smith have been crucial down the stretch this season and have been scoring at an exceptional rate.
On defense, Chucky Hepburn continues to be one of the best in the nation, and prove why he is so lethal on the court. The easiest path for Louisville is almost self-explanatory, but if the No. 15 seed can upset the No. 10 seed and then the No. 7 seed.
Right now it looks like the No. 15 seed will be either North Carolina State, Syracuse, Cal, Notre Dame or Virginia. The team that holds that 15-seed right now is Cal, but if the Golden Bears still have to play the Cardinals which means they potentially could drop at least one game.
Cardinals dream scenario is to play North Carolina State, and have the Wolfpack upset the No. 7 seed Stanford and then face off in the quarterfinals. Louisville would then move on to the semifinals, where they would face No. 3 Clemson. We could go super unrealistic, and say Cardinals easiest path is them facing the No. 14 seed, but a realistic scenario is if SMU or UNC upsets Clemson.
Cardinals face one of these two schools that they have already beaten by double-digits and secure a birth in the ACC Tournament championship with Duke.
Most likely path for Louisville basketball to win 2025 ACC Tournament
The most likely path for Louisville basketball is for the Cardinals to square up with No.7 Stanford, or No 6 UNC or SMU in the quarterfinals, then move on to face Clemson in the semifinals, no matter what, if they are the No. 2 or No. 3 seed and then face Duke in the ACC Tournament championship.
Cardinals path seems to be Stanford, Clemson and Duke, and Cardinals have the roster and coaching staff of getting a berth with history and shocking Clemson and Duke. Cardinals beat Clemson 74-64 earlier in the regular season, and lost to Duke 75-65. Louisville is one of the hottest teams in College Basketball right now. They will lock up the second bye and will most likely play Stanford, who they see for the first time to conclude the regular season.
