Louisville basketball is taking on the USF Bulls tomorrow afternoon, and the Cardinals learned earlier today that they will be without their star guard, Mikel Brown Jr.  Louisville fans are crushed by the update as they learned Brown isn’t just out against USF, but if they win tomorrow, he will be out in the Round of 32 as well.

Latest Mikel Brown Jr. injury update is even worse than Louisville fans imagined

While the fans are devastated and heartbroken by the update, Brown broke his silence and spoke with the media earlier today, and the point guard is visibly crushed that he won’t be able to play the first two rounds. Watching Brown’s interview, it is hard for Louisville fans not to feel for the true freshman, as he is just as gut-wrenched as the fans.

Mikel Brown Jr. shares reaction to missing March Madness games

Brown has officially been ruled out of the first two games of the NCAA Tournament, and in a recent interview, Brown explained that it "sucks" and that it has been a dream of his since he was a kid.

“It sucks for me because this is what you dream about as a kid to play in these types of environments,” Brown stated earlier today after being ruled out tomorrow. “It’s tough as a competitor to not be able to go out on the floor and compete with your guys, especially in this moment of time, man. It is a special place to be. It is a special environment to be in. I definitely don’t take it for granted. I am going to be impacting the game in other ways.”

Every kid who grows up playing basketball dreams of hitting a buzzer-beater and winning the National Championship and competing in March Madness, and when fans watch this clip, you can feel the emotion from Brown. Obviously, Louisville fans are a bit frustrated that the second-highest-rated commit in program history has missed 12 games this season, but there is no doubt Brown wants to go compete and play tomorrow; he just isn’t healthy at the moment.

Brown has missed four straight games, including the two in the ACC Tournament, and now he will miss tomorrow for sure. If Louisville wins and plays Saturday, he would be out for that as well. Brown stated he hopes every day is the day he is back and healthy, but this back injury has unfortunately really impacted his freshman season and will be the story of his college career.
