Louisville football and Jeff Brohm had an eye-popping offseason, which has Cardinals fans counting down the days towards their Week 1 showdown in Nashville, Tenn. Brohm showed off his ability to recruit from the Transfer Portal, adding 31 players, including his next QB1, the Ohio State transfer Lincoln Kienholz.

Louisville football’s ACC Title dream will rest on these two key offensive stars

The Cards fans have heard all offseason, since Brohm’s portal haul, that Louisville is a dark horse in the ACC and can make a run towards the College Football Playoffs and the ACC Championship Game. One credible computer model just backed that up and gave Louisville football fans the regular-season projection they will absolutely love.

Massey Louisville Cardinals Game Projections

Kenneth Massey's model has become one of the more notable credible computer models, with the top predictors achieving around 74 percent accuracy and Massey right behind at 71 percent. So, he recently updated his regular-season projections for the Cardinals and their games, and Louisville fans are going to smile from ear to ear and get even more excited for the season when they see these projections.

A credible computer model projects the Cards to go 11-1 this season and favors Louisville in every game except their first, against Ole Miss in the Liberty Mutual Music City Kickoff at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn.

  • Note: Home team in bold font
  • Ole Miss 31 - Louisville 24, with a 31% probability of a Louisville win
  • Louisville 42 - Villanova 7 - 99% probability
  • Louisville 29 - SMU 26 - 59% probability
  • Louisville 31 - Wake Forest 20 - 77% probability
  • Louisville 30 - North Carolina State 26 - 60% probability
  • Louisville 31 - Florida State 24 - 67% probability
  • Louisville 35 - Syracuse 21 - 80% probability
  • Louisville 36 - Stanford 16 - 88% probability
  • Louisville 31 - Georgia Tech 28 - 56% probability
  • Louisville 31 - UNC - 21 - 75% probability
  • Louisville 31 - Pitt 24 - 68% probability
  • Louisville 27 - Kentucky 24 - 58% probability

Now, based on Massey’s model and the projections, if Louisville goes 11-1, the Cardinals would be in the ACC Championship Game, as they are projected to go 9-0 in their conference schedule. So, Louisville would head back to Charlotte and likely face Miami in the ACC Championship Game, with a chance to earn the program's first berth in the College Football Playoffs.

Another observation from these projections and the Cardinals' 11 wins is that the model has four games in which Louisville has a 60% or lower chance of winning. So, Louisville is favored and is projected to win these nail-bitter games, but SMU, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, and Kentucky are projected to be some of the Cardinals' toss-up games as of right now.

The Cardinals fans are hoping to see Louisville back in Charlotte and earn that first CFP berth, and these projections have given them a little more confidence that Brohm and the Cardinals can do it this upcoming season.
