Louisville football fans are locked in on the Transfer Portal right now, and while there is a lot of buzz around the quarterback rumors, specifically Dylan Raiola and DJ Lagway, it is important for Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals to attack some other positions, too. The Cardinals will lose a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, but one area they need to address is the defensive backfield.
Louisville will once again lose multiple key players from this season and will have to attack the cornerback and safety positions. The Cards will lose two key safeties in D'Angelo Hutchinson and Jojo Evans, making Brohm and Ron English attack the portal and find their next star safety.
One of the most recent portal entries, the Cardinals should go contact him immediatley as he would be a huge addition to their secondary. Colorado fans learned that their starting safety, Tawfiq Byard, will enter the Transfer Portal, and Louisville fans are immediatley interested in him.

Louisville football must target elite Colorado transfer to fill glaring hole
The name Byard might sound familiar to many fans, as it should be, because he is the younger brother of star safety Kevin Byard III, who currently leads the NFL with six interceptions this season. The Colorado transfer started his career at USF, where he played two seasons, earning 59 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, two sacks, and one interception, while starting in 10 games.

Now, after one year with the Buffaloes, he will enter the portal for a second straight season. He started in eight games for Deion Sanders and Colorado and played in all 12. He led Colorado with an impressive 85 tackles and two forced fumbles, and his eight tackles for a loss are No. 3 in Colorado history. On top of those impressive stats, he added four pass breakups, one interception, and half a sack.
With Louisville needing a starting safety, Byard is a name that should skyrocket to the top of their list. He ranks as a 3-star safety in the portal and is currently the No. 3 safety in the portal and the No. 39 player overall.
The Cardinals need to address their secondary and a player like Byard would be a dream fit. He will likely get a lot of calls after this massive season of his, but Brohm has to make a move and reach out to this elite safety.
