Former Louisville football quarterback Tyler Shough took over the starting job for the Saints earlier this season after Kellen Moore benched Spencer Rattler. Shough first led the Saints to a 17-7 win over the Carolina Panthers back in early November, and now yesterday, the rookie quarterback just made Saints history with his second win.
Yesterday, Shough led the Saints to a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, making him the first rookie quarterback to earn multiple wins in his first season since Archie Manning in 1971. Given the Saints' history, this is quite impressive, and the way Shough did it sends a message to Moore that the QB job next season is his.
NFL fans and analysts are beginning to take notice of the former Cardinals quarterback, as he made incredible plays in their win yesterday.
NFL Analyst sends strong message about Tyler Shough
Shough played only one season with Louisville, but he led the Cardinals to a 9-4 record, including their first win over Clemson in program history. He was just the 13th quarterback to throw for over 3,000 passing yards and went on to be the No. 40 pick in the NFL draft.
Now, he has led the Saints to two wins in his first five starts after Rattler went 1-7 in the first eight games of the season. After Shough's win over the 7-5 Buccaneers, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz went on social media and said the quiet part out loud on Shough.

Shough's ability to run really stood out yesterday, as he not only scrambled, avoided being sacked, and ran for the touchdown on the play Schultz included in his post, but also ran 34 yards to the end zone in the third quarter to put the Saints up 14-10.
The former Cardinals quarterback instantly became one of Louisville's favorite players, and now, as they watch his NFL dreams come true, it is an incredible feeling. He finished the game 13-for-20 for 144 yards and added seven rushes for 55 yards and two rushing touchdowns, including his incredible game-winning touchdown to put the Saints up 24-17.
Shough boasts a 2-3 record in his five starts, and with the Panthers, Jets, Titans, and Falcons remaining on the Saints' schedule, Shough has the opportunity to make a massive statement with these winnable games.
