The 5-star point guard is not just one of the top guards in the 2027 cycle, but also one of the top overall recruits.  Alston has earned over 32 offers from major programs, including Kentucky, Purdue, Houston, Texas, Kansas, and many others.

The 5-star is ranked as high as the No. 2 point guard in the 2027 cycle and the No. 8 overall recruit, according to 247Sports. The 5-star has taken a few visits so far, including one to Louisville this past December and another to Wichita State and Purdue.

The Houston native had an eye-popping 2025-26 season as he averaged a dominant 22.2 points, 5.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game. The 5-star guard had an impressive championship game for Second Baptist High School, scoring 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, adding nine assists and five rebounds.

Kelsey and the Cardinals are now looking to add to their 2027 recruiting class, as they have already earned two commitments in 4-star Ferlandes Wright and 3-star guard Isaac Ellis. Kelsey’s dominant portal offseason is now beginning to lead to a potential dominant 2027 recruiting class as he makes a strong push for the No. 2 overall recruit, Ekezie, and the No. 8 overall recruit, Alston.
