Louisville basketball recently added former North Carolina star Seth Trimble. Since that news broke, a lot has happened. Trimble is now ruled ineligible and must file his own lawsuit/injunction to regain eligibility under the “five-for-five” rule.

Now, we aren’t here to predict if Trimble will be eligible or not, but if Trimble can win a case and is part of the Cardinals team, this team has a lot of upside and Final Four potential. Trimble brings a lot to the table that Louisville fans would love for this upcoming season, and Pat Kelsey made that clear in a recent interview.

Before the news broke that Trimble was ineligible, Kelsey went on a podcast with CBS Sports and Gary Parrish. In the interview, Parrish asked about Kelsey adding Trimble, and Louisville fans heard how excited the Cardinals head coach is about the UNC star transferring to Louisville.

Pat Kelsey gives high praise to Seth Trimble

In the interview, Parrish asked Kelsey about the thought process of adding Trimble so late in the offseason, and the answer Kelsey gave is something Louisville basketball fans should absolutely love.

“That is a no-brainer, because he has it," stated Kelsey on Trimble. "He has a twinkle in his eye. He has a bounce in his step. He’s got a special aura about him, special heart, special spirit."

Cardinals fans are eager to see whether Trimble will be eligible for this upcoming season, but this fiery quote from Kelsey certainly makes them hope he is. Trimble is coming off his best season, when he, of course, went viral for hitting the game-winning shot against Duke and also posted a career-high 14 points per game.

The UNC transfer is a physical guard who helped the Cardinals' National Title odds rise from +2500 to +2200. He is a projected starter if he is available to play, as he can play gritty defense on the opposing team's best player while also being reliable on offense.

So, while adding Trimble was a risk because of the “five-for-five” rule, Kelsey makes it clear that if Trimble is available to play, he brings the intensity and energy Louisville fans will love. Now, the Cardinals will have to wait and see what happens and whether Trimble is eligible.

But Kelsey is clearly fired up with the addition of Trimble, and now the Cardinals fans hope this new Louisville Cardinals squad can snap Louisville’s Final Four drought and go on a deep postseason run.
