Not everyone can live up to their NFL Draft potential like Elvis Dumervile, Lamar Jackson, and other legendary Cardinals who went on to incredible NFL careers.

While there have been many great careers for former Lousiville stars, a few of the standout Cardinals couldn’t find their footing at the next level.

Setting the standard that a draft pick can only be a bust if the player is taken in the first two rounds, which Lousiville players have fallen short of expectations as they took on the NFL?

Here are five former Lousiville Cardinals who have been the biggest draft busts for the program since 2000:

Marcus Smith - LB. player. 438. . Philadelphia Eagles, 2014 NFL Draft, Round 1, Pick 26. . macrus smith. . Marcus Smith - LB. 5

  • 38 tackles
  • 6.5 sacks
  • 2 forced fumbles

After an incredible collegiate career with the Cardinals, Marcus Smith was unsurprisingly selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

However, after being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles, Smith's career in the league didn't amount to much of anything.

Over a short five-year span, Smith had less than 40 total tackles and only 6.5 sacks. He did notably force 2 fumbles during his career but that is the extent of his highlight reel.
