The Louisville football team has some solid individual players on this year's team. Despite having to replace quite a few key starters on offense, the defense is going to be stout again. From the defensive front to the secondary, they are going to be hard to move the ball against.

Ashton Gillotte is the best player on the roster at any position. He's a wonderful pass-rusher who can get to the quarterback in a variety of ways. Not only does he rush the passer effectively, but he can play the run as well. He's the complete package as a defensive end.

Gillotte has already been recognized on some preseason award watchlists. There's a chance that he is the ACC's best defensive player. He is ready to help lead the Cardinals back to the ACC Championship Game. He has been recognized yet again for his greatness.

Louisville football player Ashton Gillotte is a Preseason All-American

Gillotte has been named a Preseason All-American by two different outlets so far. He was named a Preseason All-American by both CBS Sports and Sporting News. It's hard to say that was a bad choice by either outlet when you turn on the tape and watch him go.

Of course, Gillotte doesn't pay much attention to all of the preseason noise. He doesn't care much about what happens before the season. He only cares about what happens during the year and how well they are playing at the end of the year. That's all that matters for this team.

If Gillotte is even more dominant than he was last season, the Louisville Cardinals will be in a great spot. They will be able to win games defensively and they'll be able to rely on that side of the ball. The ACC is sleeping on the Cardinals this season.
