Jeff Brohm has been doing wonders for Louisville in the transfer portal so far for the 2024 season, but getting Ashton Gillotte to stay for his senior campaign may be the biggest get yet. It was unknown if he would return or head to the NFL draft, but Gillotte made his decision loud and clear on social media today.
Ashton Gillotte finished the 2023 season with 11 sacks, 14.5 tackles for loss, and 45 total tackles. Gillotte was also an All-ACC honoree and the runner-up for the defensive player of the year award. In addition to that, three other media outlets named Gillotte as a second team all american. Gillotte even ranks as #9 on Louisville's all-time sack list.
Jeff Brohm has brought in several players in the transfer portal so far this season, but keeping Gillotte is the best get so far. Gillotte would have been a drafted NFL player this season, but since he has decided to stay at Louisville the defensive line should be unstoppable next season. Especially with players like Mason Reiger returning to the D-line as well.
The offseason is just getting started for Jeff Brohm and his staff, but things are certainly looking very, very bright for the 2024 Louisville Cardinal football roster.
