The Louisville Cardinals baseball squad faced off the in the first game against the North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill yesterday. However, the Cardinals could not prevail as they fell to #8 UNC in a 14-4 loss.

Louisville comes in at 29-20 (13-12) after losing to Vanderbilt earlier this week, as North Carolina came into the game ranked at #8 with a 37-11 (18-7) record. Louisville is currently set to head to Omaha for the college world series, but the amount of errors Louisville can make is very low, and they need to get as many wins as they can before the season ends. While it is not too disappointing that Louisville lost to the no. 8 team in the league, they will eventually run out of oppurtunites in the ACC.

Louisville started the game off with a great opportunity to score by getting the bases loaded in the first inning, but they ultimately couldn't get on the board as it was tied 0-0 at the end of the 1st inning.

By the end of the 2nd inning Louisville would take a 2-1 lead over North Carolina, however, UNC would battle back in the 3rd inning and never look back by leaving Louisville in the dirt.

UNC took a 7-2 lead in the 3rd while Louisville eventually narrowed scored twice to narrow the lead to 7-4. Louisville wouldn't score again however, as the Cardinals eventually lost 14-4 to the Tar Heels.

Louisville will face off against North Carolina again today, as the first pitch is set to be thrown at noon.
