Jeff Brohm is Dominating The Transfer Portal, As Louisville Adds Five New Commits
By Caleb Hall
Jeff Brohm has added five new transfers to next year's Louisville Cardinal football team, and it is looking like it will be one of the best in the nation when it all comes to an end. Brohm already had 5 transfers incoming before Friday, but as of Saturday night he added 5 new transfers, and they are big ones.
Here are the new five incoming transfers for Louisville in 2024:
1. WR Ja'Corey Brooks - Alabama
Ja'Corey Brooks transferred out of Alabama and picked Louisville as his destination on Friday night, and it is the biggest get for Brohm so far. Brooks only had 3 catches in 2023 due to a shoulder injury, but has proven to be a real playmaker when given the opportunity. In 2022 he had 674 receiving yards and had a team-high 8 touchdowns that year too. Brohm should look to get a lot from Brooks in 2024 just based on talent alone.
2. CB Corey Thornton - UCF
Corey Thornton has been at UCF for the last 4 years and is coming off arguably his best season last year with UCF. Over the time in 46 games played there, he has garnered 139 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions, 24 pass breakups, and a forced fumble. Thornton should provide some good productivity in the Louisville secondary in 2024. He also comes in at 6'1 and 190 pounds.
3. OL Pete Nygra - Northern Illinois
Pete Nygra will be Brohm's 2nd offensive lineman in the transfer class so far, and Louisville may have found their center for the 2024 season. Nygra comes in at 6'4 and 292 pounds. Nygra also started all 12 games for Northern Illinois in 2023 and only managed to have 2 penalties all year.
4. DL Jordan Guerad - Florida Atlantic
Defensive lineman Jordan Guerad is a big pickup for Jeff Brohm and Louisville, but what was interesting was that he was flipped from Minnesota over to the Cardinals. He had a weekend visit to the Ville and I guess that was all it took for Guerad. Guerad ended the season on the all-conference usa list and should look to provide a lot for the Louisville defense in 2024.
5. RB Donald Chaney - Miami
Louisville gained 3 transfers on Saturday and Donald Chaney may have been the biggest one. In 4 seasons at Miami Chaney has accounted for over 1,100 all-purpose yards and had his most impressive season in 2023 with 474 yards and 6 touchdowns. Chaney has had some injury trouble in the past but should look to play well if he stays healthy in 2024.
Here is what Cardinal fans should expect from Donald Chaney in 2024:
Jeff Brohm now has 10 incoming transfers for 2024 and things are looking better and better for the Cardinals as Brohm works his magic. Louisville ranks as the #3 transfer class in the nation right now, only under Colorado and Ole Miss per 247sports. Of course, all of that could change as we get deeper and deeper into the month of December.
